yourcodenameis:milo yourcodenameis:milo - "Pacific Theater"
yourcodenameis:milo describe themselves as an experimental British rock band, which may be true, but their sound is much bigger than just "experimental"! This driving track is honestly a force to be reckoned with - here's hoping they bring their live show back stateside!

Shihad Shihad - "Beautiful Machine"
If this early track from Aussie rockers Shihad is any indication, their upcoming album is going to be amazing. Hard to decide what's better here - the awesome synth intro or the soaring chorus. You decide!

Klaxons Klaxons - "Golden Skans"
This song by UK "new rave" sensations Klaxons got stuck in Mandy's head for two straight days… no tall tale. Of course, it doesn't seem so impossible to imagine once you listen to it - between the uber-catchy "ooh-wee-oooh" and the racing beat!

Metronomy Metronomy - "This Could Be Beautiful (It Is)"
Now that the dust has settled on SXSW 2007, it's easy to pick Metronomy as one of our live favorites there. We heard the live show described as a combination of Ratatat and Devo - and that's not far off! We love the reflective and captivating tone of this track.

The Animal Five The Animal Five - "Pixie Dust"
Handclaps? Check? Ridiculously catchy chorus? Check. The Animal Five hail from Sweden and remind us a bit of the Strokes, but definitely with a unique voice and twist.

Nekta Nekta - "Guess Who"
This track from German duo Nekta has an old soul to it - it sounds as if it's from an era gone by while still somehow sounding fresh enough for modern times!
Freestylers Freestylers - "Jump N Twist"
Combining reggae, electronic, and rock, this new single from UK act Freestylers has an intoxicating and brisk beat!
Stars On Mars Stars On Mars - "Modern Girl"
Every once in awhile, a gem from our catalog pops its head back out to say hello. This is one of those gems! Poppy, sweet and adorable as spring itself.
Paul Kelly Paul Kelly - "These Are The Days"
Singer-songwriter Paul Kelly's style is so refreshing and down to earth - it's hard to resist. This is an uplifting and optimistic recent song from him.
The Pixies The Pixies - "Where Is My Mind?"
What can we say that hasn't already been said about legendary influential rock band The Pixies? If you're a fan of modern indie rock, you have them to thank - case closed. This is one of our favorites from the album Surfer Rosa - with that classic ghostly wail wedged delicately behind an awesome and unforgettable guitar riff.
Sahara Hotnights Sahara Hotnights - "Cheek To Cheek"
You may have caught this track on our recent SXSW email sampler - it's worth hearing again! It's the first new single we've heard from their upcoming release and promises good things to come!
TV Rock VS Dukes of Windsor TV Rock VS Dukes of Windsor - "The Others"
This remix of "The Others" by the Aussie electro-rock band Dukes of Windsor has a great dirty beat and is just dripping with delicious synth. It's the aural version of sneaking into a party that is way too cool for you to be attending!
Melody Club Melody Club - "Destiny Calling"
You might remember Swedish synth-rockers Melody Club from our recent podcast edition. Yes, they're the band that NME referred to as "Abba with balls"!
Joy Division Joy Division - "Love Will Tear Us Apart"
It almost goes without saying that this is one of the most epic and emotional song openings in the last thirty years easily! Much like The Pixies, today's indie rock scene just wouldn't exist without them. Joy Division is a new addition to the UMPG catalog and we are very excited about that!
Camille Jones Vs Fedde Le Grand Camille Jones Vs Fedde Le Grand - "The Creeps"
It's hard to explain what makes this song so great. Is it the bouncing, fiery beat? Is it the syncopated, irresistible vocal by Danish artist Camille? It's both really. You'll see.
Lucky Twice Lucky Twice - "Lucky"
So, I don't know what you were doing at 15 and 16 years old, but I certainly wasn't creating fantastic Swedish pop music - that's exactly what the two young ladies of Lucky Twice are doing with this single "Lucky".
Petula Clark Petula Clark - "The Sun Shines Out Of Your Shoes"
Here's another recent re-discovery from the UMPG vaults - featuring the irreplaceable Miss Petula Clark! How perfect for these sunny days after a long winter, right?

This remix from Mojave 3's 2003 album Spoon and Rafter found its way to our ears recently and completely captivated us with its simple and charming beauty of chimes and acoustic guitar.
Susanna & The Magical Orchestra Susanna & The Magical Orchestra - "Crazy, Crazy Nights"
You're going to have to believe us on this one when we tell you it's a Kiss cover! This beautiful interpretation really brings focus to the proud lyrics of the song and takes it to a totally different world.
