      Slumdog Millionaire

1. A.R. RAHMAN & M.I.A. – "O... Saya"

Stream | Download

Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song, Slumdog Millionaire's opening track "O... Saya" combines tribal drumming, murky electronics and metal guitar. Add to that M.I.A.'s theatrical rhymes and it all swirls together with true anthemic bombast.

      Everything is New

2. JACK PEÑATE – "Everything Is New"

Stream | Download

Jack's sophomore effort Everything Is New is a huge, echo chamber of an album, full of trumpets, strings and percussive flourishes. As evident on its title track, it's multifaceted dance-pop, brimming with lyrical and sonic buoyancy.

      Never Forget You

3. THE NOISETTES – "Never Forget You"

Stream | Download

This British trio's latest album buzzes with vitality, thanks to huge pop hooks and the towering voice of Shingai Shoniwa, who has been proclaimed by some as the heir to Eartha Kitt's throne. "Never Forget You" layers bells, soaring strings and Latin percussion into a triumphant wall of sound.

      Beep Beep Beep

4. TIGA – "Beep Beep Beep"

Stream | Download

With his brand new album Ciao! Montreal's Tiga delivers more of the futuristic electro-pop we have come to know and love him for. Managing to be ironic and sincere simultaneously, this glamorous bleeping pop tune is a treat for the ears and feet.

      The Fame

5. LADY GAGA – "The Fame"

Stream | Download

What is left to say of Miss Gaga that hasn't already been said? She's a true '09 phenomenon no matter how you dice it and this cut from her debut album just proves that she has the pop chops to go the distance.

      Reason 45

6. APPLES – "Reason 45"

Stream | Download

The 1st single from Britain's Apples opens with a breezy blast of saxophone, and then cleverly combines clean guitars with lighter-than-air synths and upbeat percussion. Take all that and add the vocal harmonies reminiscent of 60's Beach Boys and you'll see why Apples are this years connoisseurs of pure summer pop.

      Show Me Love

7. KATE HAVNEVIK – "Show Me Love"

Stream | Download

London-based and Norwegian-born, Kate grew up with a desire to become a guitarist in the jazz & classical worlds, but then joined a punk band. Since then she has explored and embraced the wide breadth of musical styles through guitar, piano, and melodica along with recent collaborations with Moby and Röyksopp. "Show Me Love" pairs her with Guy Sigsworth, the eclectic producer behind hit songs from Frou Frou to Björk to Britney Spears.

      Hey World

8. ALISSA MORENO – "Hey World"

Stream | Download

After breaking on to the scene as a talented songwriter (Grammy-nominated for Rascal Flatts' hit "Every Day") Alissa is now set to make a name for herself as a solo artist. A skilled musician on both guitar and piano and with a sweet voice that scales the octaves, it's safe to say that she is far more than just a gifted songwriter.

      I Can't Stand The Rain

9. ANN PEEBLES – "I Can't Stand The Rain"

Stream | Download

Often sited as the feminine counterpart to Al Green, Ann was an uncommonly subtle and graceful R&B singer. With "I Can't Stand the Rain" she broke through with a slice of top-tier Memphis soul, which scaled the R&B charts in 1973, and since then has been covered by Tina Turner and sampled by Missy Elliott and Talib Kweli.

      New York

10. PALOMA FAITH – "New York"

Stream | Download

"Björk...possessed by the ghost of Billie Holiday" and "Portishead meets Piaf" – these are a couple of descriptions that Paloma Faith and her music have received. She's quite a mix n' match of styles and eras, and she makes quite a sound which, as you'll hear, makes it hard to pin her down to a specific genre... and all the better for it.

      Embers

11. JUST JACK – "Embers"

Stream | Download

A self-described "urban poet" out of London, Jack Allsopp has returned with his 3rd album full of catchy melodies with pop hip-hop beats throughout. With his classic laid back delivery, Jack blends candid lyrics into swinging grooves and looping vocals. Pulsing string arrangements and fervent hand claps turn "Embers" into a soaring and hypnotic anthem.

      "Time Machine"

      Colors Everywhere

14. SWITZERLAND – "Colors Everywhere"

Stream | Download

Thanks to our exciting collaboration with Humphrey Industries, Switzerland is a great new addition to our roster. We administer sync and master, so it's easy one-stop shopping. Switzerland is a female-fronted quartet offering up first-rate shimmering pop tunes filled with hand claps and 60's-esque vocal harmonies.

      Stay

15. THE DØ – "Stay (Just A Little Bit More)"

Stream | Download

The Dø have put together a pop concoction of all things beautiful – there are recorders, harmonicas, hand claps, glockenspiels and swirling strings. On "Stay..." the melody swings from sweet to sweeter and Olivia's vocals are exquisite.

      Jaxx Scars

16. BASEMENT JAXX – "Raindrops"

Stream | Download

"Raindrops" is a riot of gorgeous detail containing everything you've come to crave in a Basement Jaxx tune: big, sustaining synths, a rumbling punchy beat and a huge hook of a chorus. With its fuzzy keys and sitar runs, "Raindrops" is shamelessly psychedelic but never loses its disco heart. The Jaxx are back.

      Lavoe La Voz

17. HECTOR LAVOE w/ WILLIE COLON – "La Banda"

Stream | Download

Known to his fans simply as El Cantante (The Singer), Hector is one of salsa music's greatest icons. His rich, resounding tenor is radiantly organic even as he wrings every possible iota of lyric, rhythmic and emotional truth from each song he sings.

stream download

      Poker Face

18. ORBA SQUARA – "Poker Face"

Stream | Download

Orba Squara excels at stripped-down instrumentation and simple, sweet melodies – not surprisingly its rendition of Lady Gaga's disco behemoth embraces this approach with a tinkling toy piano and muted guitar plucking. Indie folk fans will not be disappointed! Even though this is one Gaga song we don't hold the pub rights for we DO control the master so obviously we had to include it in our Favorites!

      Lee Maria

19. LEA MARIA – "It's A Good Day"

Stream | Download

This Peggy Lee-penned jazz favorite hit the Top 20 in 1947 and has been covered innumerable times since. Few can hold a candle to Miss Lee's original take on it but we want to give credit to hot up-and-comer Lea Maria for the contemporary twist and sonic kick she gives to this beloved classic.

      Stardust

20. STARDUST – "Music Sounds Better With You"

Stream | Download

With its infectious horn samples and groove-laden bass hooks, this guilty pleasure is one of the biggest selling house singles of all time. Masterminded by Thomas Bangalter (one half of Daft Punk), the song is propelled by just a simple repetitive chorus, sprinkled with a little Stardust and voilà, you have a dance-music classic.

Poison

21. POISON – "Nothin' But A Good Time"

Stream | Download

These guys were the premier hair-raising pop-metal band of the 1980s. This single from their sophomore album Open Up And Say... Ahh sums up perfectly what Poison was all about. Rock on!
